Ron Goetzel, PhD, is senior scientist and director of the Institute for Health and Productivity Studies (IHPS) at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and vice president of Consulting and Applied Research for IBM Watson Health. Goetzel will address the controversy of whether wellness works by sharing new and emerging research on workplace health promotion programs and their impact on employee health, medical costs, and productivity outcomes. He will also address the shift from a return-on-investment (ROI) rationale for these programs to one that emphasizes value-on-investment (VOI). Goetzel will review his “top 10” list of best and promising practices revealed from a benchmarking project supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation entitled Promoting Healthy Workplaces.

Petra Kolber is an internationally renowned fitness expert and wellness leader who is known throughout the industry as a crusader for change and a beacon of authentic happiness. In her 25 years in the fitness world she has starred in and choreographed 60 award-winning videos and fitness programs, and has spoken live to thousands of motivated followers. As a national workshop leader and keynote speaker, she inspires people around the globe to stand up for their lives and live profoundly from their hearts. She has been a consultant and contributor to many national fitness magazines and has been named Fitness Crusader Of The Year by Health Magazine. She has been the face and voice of leading food and fitness companies such as Reebok, Spry Living, Yes Fitness Music, and California Walnuts. This August, in association with Da Capo Lifelong Publishing, Petra's first book, The Perfection Detox: Tame Your Inner Critic, Live Bravely and Unleash Your Joy, is available wherever books are sold.

Bernadette Melnyk, PhD, RN, FAANP, FNAP, FAAN, is vice president for health promotion, university chief wellness officer, and dean of the College of Nursing at The Ohio State University. She also is a professor of pediatrics and psychiatry in the College of Medicine.  She is an internationally recognized expert in evidence-based practice, health and wellness, mental health, and intervention research, and is a frequent keynote speaker at national and international conferences on these topics. Her scholarship record includes over 19 million dollars of sponsored funding from federal agencies as principal investigator and over 250 publications, including four books. She served a four-year term on the 16-member United States Preventive Services Task Force and currently serves as a member of the National Quality Forum’s (NQF) Behavioral Health Standing Committee and the National Institutes of Health’s National Advisory Council for nursing research. In addition, she is an elected member of the Institute of Medicine.
